A Christmas Wonderland

“According to the Mayan calendar, December 21 marks the end of the world. Then why am I Christmas shopping?” –David Letterman

Well, Mr Letterman, you should have done what I did.

I booked myself a cycling tour far far away from home. My destination is a lesser known town called Zhong Shan, close to Guilin-Yangshuo and also another fine example of Karst Topography.

The town is built on a plain surrounded by high mountains, with lots and lots of little peaks and hills scattered in the middle. The country lane meanders around the peaks and the view changes after every turn. The scenery is as breathtaking as Guilin-Yangshuo and best of all not yet spoiled by tourism development. One can still find buffalos working in paddy fields and tiny temple with praying monks at the foot of the hills.

Christmas Wonderland in Yangshou

This is my christmas wonderland; my santuary before returning to the hustle and bustle of holiday in the city.
